The “Daughters of the King” conference-wide women’s retreat drew some 300 women to Ocean City, Md., last weekend for fellowship and worship. The annual event includes programming for women in English and Spanish languages, and seminars planned just for teens. Attendees participated in worship services, an evening bonfire on the beach, and seminars. Tamyra Horst, Women's Ministries director for the Columbia Union and Pennsylvania Conference, joined Chesapeake Conference office staff in honoring Samantha Young for her nearly 10 years of service as conference Women's Ministries director, and presented her with a tiara and a farewell gift.

This year, the entire group closed the Sabbath together with an agape supper featuring music, testimonies of gratitude, and prayers of thanksgiving and adoration.

“I have enjoyed Chesapeake Conference’s women’s retreat for the past three years,” says Becky Keoppen, a retired teacher who attends the Spencerville church in Silver Spring, Md. “I always find the speakers spiritually thought-provoking. Their sermons are different, yet the theme is always related to women finding their worth and value to God and sharing that message with others.”
Attendees listen to a sermon by keynote speaker Carmen Hope Thomas of Huntsville, Ala.
On Saturday evening, women participated in a “paint party,” each creating their own version of a Georgia O’Keefe inspired flower. Other highlights of the weekend included a service project to send fleece blankets to children in Puerto Rico impacted by Hurricane Maria, morning walks on the beach, a quiet prayer room, and a miniature on-siteLiving WellAdventist Book and Health Food store.
